Classic fun run back again

Community members are being invited to walk all over breast cancer next month as registrations open for the The Women in Super’s Mother’s Day Classic.

The 5km fundraiser walk, which has entered it’s ninth year, will take place on Sunday, May 13, at the Civic Centre Gardens. The event encourages residents to put on their fundraising hats and dress in their best pink attire to raise money for breast cancer research.

Town of Port Hedland Mayor Camilo Blanco said it was an opportunity for the community to band together to support a cause that was close to many people’s hearts.

“I encourage everyone in the community to register for this important event, or come along on the day to enjoy breakfast, coffee and the range of family-friendly activities available,” he said.

“One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and this is a wonderful opportunity for the whole community to come together and raise funds.”

He said the event would not be possible without event partner Horizon Power and the many volunteers who participated each year.
