Community groups encouraged to connect

Hedland Well Women’s Centre is encouraging local community groups and organisations to come to the third Let’s Connect event happening on September 8.
Let’s Connect is an information- sharing morning and will be held at North Regional TAFE in South Hedland.
HWWC program co-ordinator Tracey Morrison said Let’s Connect was designed for not-for-profit and community groups to come together to see how they could connect and work together for the greater benefit of the community.
“The idea for this meeting is to have one person from each separate agency/group take one to two minutes to give a basic run down of (their) services to the rest of the participants,” she said.
“We hope that this small introduction will give us all a better understanding of each other’s services and how we can refer to and support each other.”
Ms Morrison initiated Let’s Connect in February to give local groups, organisations and agencies an opportunity to better understand what services were available in the community.
“I felt we didn’t know enough about the other services that were provided in town,” she said.
“We knew what some of them were but we were constantly noticing that certain places provided services that we weren’t even aware of.” The inaugural Let’s Connect in February was hailed a great success by organisers and participants.
The Youth Involvement Council offered to host the second Let’s Connect in July and the event has since become a regular fixture.
RSVP by September 4 to 9140 1124 or program@wellwomens.com.au.
