WA Health has confirmed there are 11 new cases of COVID-19 in the Pilbara.

It comes after mining giants BHP and Rio Tinto both confirmed on Tuesday they had recorded positive cases at their mining facilities in both Port Hedland and near Newman.

WA Health refused to identify which Pilbara towns the positive cases had been recorded in and said that due to the high caseload being experienced State-wide, this information would no longer be made available.

A WA Health spokesperson said there were eight new cases in the Goldfields and five new cases in the South West.

No new cases have been recorded in the Midwest, the Great Southern or the Kimberley.
