With the cyclone season upon us, Department of Fire and Emergency Services Cadets were out in the community last week, reminding Hedland residents to be prepared. Teaming up with Hedland SES, the cadets delivered 100 specially designed sandbags to households, containing information about tropical cyclones and how to prepare for them. Hedland SES local manager Brad Western was proud of the efforts of the young cadets. “It was a great opportunity for the cadets to discuss household cyclone preparedness and the use of sandbags with local residents,” he said. The Bureau of Meteorology has tipped an above-average number of tropical cyclones in the North West for the 2021-22 season.
