Drapht breezes through Pilbara

Top Perth rapper Drapht is gearing up for a regional tour that will see the artist return to the Pilbara. Drapht, also known as Paul Reid, will be venturing to the North West in support of his new album Shadows and Shinings. The tour will have the rapper perform at the Exmouth Fishing and Game Club, The Mermaid Hotel in Dampier and Port Hedland’s Pier Hotel in October. Drapht, pictured, said he was looking forward to the album being released this month so he could begin touring. “I've always used my music like a form of therapy first and foremost,” he said. “So a lot of the album is kind of dark in regards to the subject matter because there’s a lot of stuff over the past two years that I’ve wanted to get off my chest and helps me move forward and sort of evolve personally.” Drapht said he was excited to return to the North West and return to the sunshine of the Pilbara. “There's been so much silver lining in terms of being over on the west coast and just having touring available,” he said. Drapht said regional fans were always appreciative of gigs. “I've been touring regionally with WA in mind for the last 15 years and it feels like (reuniting with old friends) for the most part,” he said. “I’ve got sort of friends and family in all the places that we’re visiting anyway, so it’s just going to be a good time.” He said regional fans were absolutely raucous. “It’s nice because they don’t get as much as the city gets in terms of live music, performances and people coming to visit on a regular basis, so they do appreciate it more than a city crowd,” he said. “And then you can really feel that as a performer as well; I always cannot wait to do these big regional tours.”
