Driver captured running rail crossing red lights

Police have posted a video online of a driver running red lights at a rail crossing in the Pilbara.

South Hedland police released the video clip on Twitter in a bid to identify the driver at the crossing on the Great Northern Highway south of Hedland.

The footage was captured at 11am on Saturday, August 5.

South Hedland Senior Sergeant Allan Jane said the act posed not only a safety risk to himself but other road users as well.

“We’ve recently seen devastation that a major crash on a highway can cause and the disruption to traffic it causes,” he said.

“We look to avoid that and police look to avoid to advise family of a death of a loved one as result of a poor choice at a point in time.”
