Drivers warned of fire near Yandeyarra Road

Firefighters are monitoring an out-of-control fire in the vicinity of Wodgina in the Town of Port Hedland.

It is understood the fire started near the intersection of Yandeyarra Road and Great Northern Highway in Marble Bar.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services issued a bushfire advice at 10.35am this morning, saying the fire was moving in a northerly direction.

DFES advised motorists travelling along the Great Northern Highway near Yandeyarra Road to drive slowly and watch for emergency service personnel.

There is no threat to lives or homes however there is a lot of smoke in the area and road users are being warned to be aware and stay up to date in case the situation changes.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
