Port Hedland residents are being notified of an upcoming emergency response activity to be held next weekend.

The exercise, run by the The Water Corporation, will take place between 10am and 1pm on Saturday, June 24 at the South Hedland Wastewater Treatment Plant on Shoata Road.

It is aimed at testing emergency response procedures while involving the local police, ambulance and fire brigade.

A Water Corporation spokeswoman said the activity would be confined within the site and was not expected to cause any disturbance to the community.

The Town of Port Hedland advises any smoke, alarms or sirens in the area during this time are a part of the drill and there is no need for concern.

For information about the emergency response exercise, contact North West Region Dangerous Goods Coordinator Trevor Patton on 9186 8303.
