Newman community members are invited to attend an Astronomy Night presented by Matt Woods.

Mr Woods is an astronomer at the Perth Observatory and regularly hosts stargazing nights for communities and schools all over the State.

On Friday, August 25, from 6.30pm at the Hillview Speedway, participants will be able to look through a telescope to learn and experience the wonders of our planets, constellations and mythology.

Guests need to bring a chair or blanket and will be treated to a free barbecue dinner.

It is also recommended participants download the free Sky View or Sky Map app onto their devices.

The app allows the user to explore stars and constellations.
