The annual Welcome to Hedland Community Expo will be held this Friday, from 5pm at South Hedland Square.

The expo is a major event on the town’s calendar and showcases everything Hedland has to offer.

Town of Port Hedland Mayor Camilo Blanco said the expo was a great opportunity for local businesses and community, sporting and not-for-profit groups to get together and share what they have to offer.

“Each year, the event brings to life the South Hedland Square, taking over the entire area,” he said.

“This is the largest event held in South Hedland throughout the year, and I encourage everyone in the community to come and take part in this accessible, family friendly evening of fun.” There will be dozens of stalls exhibiting local not-for-profit sporting groups, community groups and businesses as well as a range of family fun activities including a bouncy castle, fire truck, police demonstrations and a library kid’s corner.

Hedland singing club, local musician Stanley Maurirere and the JaBaT Dance Studio will entertain the crowd throughout the evening.

Mr Blanco said last year’s event was a huge success and he expects this year’s to be even bigger.

“We’ve had over 70 applications for stalls offering a whole range of different products, services, giveaways and activities,” he said.

“The Fire Brigade is bringing Freddy, The SES, Army and Marine Search and Rescue will be displaying their vehicles and vessels, there will be bouncy castles and face painters for the kids and live dancing and music for all ages to enjoy.”
