Exports up 5pc through ports

The latest figures from the Pilbara Ports Authority have revealed a total monthly throughput of 59.2 million tonnes, a 5 per cent increase from the same month last year.

The Port of Port Hedland achieved a monthly throughput of 44Mt, a 4 per cent increase on last year. Iron ore exports totalled 43.3Mt, an increase of 4 per cent.

Imports, however, decreased 17 per cent from the same time last year, totalling 140,000 tonnes.

The Port of Dampier delivered a total monthly throughput of 15.2Mt, an increase of 9 per cent.

Imports through Dampier were 69,000 tonnes, a 2 per cent decrease.
