A tour of Fortescue Metals Group’s port and rail operations was a highlight for more than 170 family members of FMG employees last week.

The annual family Day, which coincided with National Families Day, is held to give team members the opportunity to provide their family and friends with an insight into the work they do at the port and rail operations.

Port and rail general manager Fernando Pereira said family was at the heart of the company’s core values.

“We were pleased to be able to join hundreds of thousands of people across Australia in celebrating National Families Week,” he said.

Families were given a tour of the port and rail sites and were provided lunch at Hamilton Village.

“Our Family Day allows our families to get a better understanding of life at port and rail and has become a highly anticipated event for everyone involved,” Mr Pereira said.

The port and rail tour is one of several regular family tours conducted by Fortescue throughout the year at all its sites.
