Fatal truck crash south of Port Hedland

A truck driver has died after their vehicle crashed near Port Hedland earlier today.

The incident occurred between the Pilbara town and Auski Roadhouse, closing the Great Northern Highway to traffic in both directions.

WA Police are attending the scene and have not yet identified the driver.

Travellers are advised by WA Main Roads to exercise extreme caution when approaching the area of the crash, 140 km south of Port Hedland.

WA Police anticipate the road will be partially re-opened later today.

Police have requested anybody with information, including dash-cam footage, to call 131 444.
