Firefighters are attending to an out-of-control fire burning near the Great Northern Highway, about 45km south of Hedland.

The blaze, located in the Mundabullangana area, was reported to the Department of Fire and Emergency Services at about 1.20pm today.

There are currently no road closures in place and the fire is blowing away from the highway.

On scene are the Hedland Bush Fire Brigade and two crews from the Town of Port Hedland.

Department of Emergency Services and Fire are not attending because it is vacant land and of low risk.
