Funds for regional policing projects

North West Telegraph

The WA Labor Government has allocated more than $27 million to regional WA policing to ensure the retention of officers and to bolster traffic enforcement in the 2017-18 State Budget.

A sum of $8.8 million has been allocated for a Regional Incentive Scheme as well as an additional $18.5 million for a Regional Enforcement Unit for regional WA.

The Regional Incentive Scheme will aim to attract and retain police officers deployed in regional WA. The Regional Enforcement Unit funding will be spent over the course of the Labor Government’s four-year term to recruit an additional 25 police officers to establish a unit to increase traffic enforcement on country roads.
