Hedland’s junior hockey players impressed as season wraps up

Port Hedland’s hockey players will have an eye towards the North West Championships against Karratha in August after wrapping up the season on June 28. Two junior players impressed the most for the year, with Chayce Martin awarded stand out player and Erynn Johnson named most improved. Port Hedland hockey president Fleur Trewick said she was pleased with the turnout, particularly in the younger age groups. “We’ve mainly played with the juniors and the numbers stayed strong all year,” she said. “Chayce Martin had a really good season as part of our hook into hockey program.” The North West Champs will take place on August 7 between Karratha and Port Hedland. Karratha came away with the victory 3-1 last time they played and Trewick said her team would be looking for revenge. “North West Champs is our next focus,” she said. “Karratha came and played here in June and hopefully we can get some revenge this time.”
