The importance of regional collaboration was the key lesson for the Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce and Industry as it returned from its trip to Karratha for the Pilbara Summit. The PHCCI sent representatives to the annual regional summit last week to meet with stakeholders from across the Pilbara. PHCCI chief executive Rebekah Worthington said one of the most valuable parts of the forum was meeting with the other regional chambers like Karratha and Newman. “It’s always a good forum to attend because it shows the really good economic future of the Pilbara,” she said. “We had an opportunity to meet with all the other regional chambers at a roundtable outside of the summit. “It gave us an opportunity to meet together with the RDA and discuss how, as chambers, we can better strengthen our voice for our local business communities.” The date for the Hedland Economic Franchise Forum was recently announced by the PHCCI. The event brings together local business leaders, community stakeholders and government representatives from across the Pilbara. Ms Worthington said the forum would build on the summit and provide Hedland specific opportunities. “Our economic forum is Hedland-specific specific so it gives us a chance to look at the opportunities within our community,” she said. “Coming off the back of a Pilbara-wide approach — it is good to have our own event for our town.” The HEFF will take place on November 22 and will be held at the Wanangkura Stadium.
