Inaugural Women of the Pilbara Forum aims to unite and inspire
The Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce and Industry will host the inaugural Women of the Pilbara Forum next month — an event aimed at celebrating and empowering women from across the region.
Scheduled for October 15 and 16, the two-day event will bring women together to share stories, explore leadership and engage in discussions on key topics affecting the Pilbara.
The forum will feature a diverse program of guest speakers covering themes such as community-focused retail, the rise of health and wellness businesses in the Pilbara, breaking down barriers for women in business, and improving liveability in remote towns.
Beyond the speaker sessions, attendees will be treated to a range of wellness and networking opportunities, including a morning yoga session led by Ebb and Flow Wellness, a networking breakfast and a sundowner event featuring a fashion show from Aboriginal-owned label Kirrikin.
“In the Pilbara, we don’t just work, we thrive in some of the most remote and challenging conditions in the country,” Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce and Industry general manager Tina Scott said.
“My dream is for this to be the first of many — an event that women aspire to be part of, to speak at and to celebrate each year.”
The event has attracted the support of exclusive event partner Rio Tinto.
“The Women of the Pilbara Forum showcases the stories and leadership of women shaping our region’s future. We’re proud to support this important event,” a Rio Tinto spokesperson said.
“Across the Pilbara, from Dampier Salt to the Winu copper project and our vast iron ore operations, we’re working to expand opportunities for women through practical measures like 18 weeks paid parental leave for all parents and even-time rosters that support work-life balance.”
