Karijini National Park set to get a new lookout and better roads as part of $16 million package

Karijini is set for an upgrade after the State Government unveiled $16 million to improve the park’s roads and tourism infrastructure. As part of the project, a lookout will be built at Knox Gorge and 41km of road sealed between Dales Gorge, Weano Gorge, and the Karijini Eco Retreat. Pilbara MLA Kevin Michel said the upgrades were an essential step in the park’s growth, given it is one of the main tourism locations in the region. “These important upgrades represent an exciting future for our beloved Karijini National Park and Pilbara region,” he said. “This $16 million dollar transformation will improve tourism in the park as well as creating a safer environment and conditions for travellers in years to come.” Raubex Construction was awarded the tender for the project with work on the roads to begin in November and construction of the new lookout to start in 2024. Last year Karijini National Park had more than 650,000 visitors.
