Hedland’s BMX riders cruised onto the track for the last time on Saturday, as the final round finished with stunning performances and a colourful fun run. Usual suspects Bohdi Gregs and Ty Kilmartin continued their success with yet another victory in the 15 boys race for Gregs. Kilmartin matched his rival with a first place finish in the 16 boys division while Craig Rowles beat out Joel Beaver and David Whitney to take home first prize in the 18 and overs. The 10 boys had been one of the most competitive races all season, with 10 riders all jockeying for top spot. Sam Langford was best on the day to finish ahead of Taj Ward and Callan Rowles. Karalee Mclean was first past the post for the 10 girls as she toppled Taylor Jackman and Bridie Whitney. Nate Robinson would have enjoyed the journey home to Karratha after back-to-back victories in the 13 boys and mixed cruiser races. Robinson toppled Hedland’s Joel Mclean and Austin Smirke to claim the 13 boys cup. He raced past Sam Langford and Kyle Whiteman in the mixed cruiser race and left home town hero and championship favourite Bohdi Gregs in fourth position. Gregs bounced back however to take out the 17 boys race ahead of Ty Kilmartin and Karratha’s Jace Robinson. Success continued for Karratha’s riders with Jace Robinson getting the victory over Riley Mcgrath and Koby Hession for the 14 boys. Shanti Atkinson was the quickest on the track for the 13 girls as she sped past Isabella Van de Worp and Isla Shinners. The day ended with a colourful fun run, a fitting celebration of a successful and enjoyable season of Hedland BMX.
