The WA Government has unveiled its plans for the cattle industry in the Pilbara at a twilight forum at Pardoo Station.

Pastoralists heard about department opportunities in the Northern Beef Development project and discussed data from Business Improvement Grant recipients at the meeting last Tuesday.

Grant recipients such as commercial cattle producers in the Kimberley and Pilbara were encouraged to enhance their competitiveness and growth through business advice and mentoring support.

A reimbursement of $25,000 was also available to engage a consultant to conduct a business improvement review and assist in meeting domestic and export market demand for WA beef and live cattle.

Department regional director Rob Cossart said the forum allowed for more meaningful discussion in a local environment about the refocused NBD project, aiming to boost productivity and meet growing demand.

“We have taken the feedback from pastoralists about hosting events locally and their wish for more face-to-face interactions with our staff,” he said.
