A South Hedland man will face court next week after he was arrested yesterday for assaulting and threatening a woman in her 40s.

Police allege that a 36-year-old man indecently assaulted a woman and threatened her life earlier this month after the woman let him inside her home on April 5.

The man allegedly threatened the victim and brandished what was believed to be a firearm before leaving the area after the victim managed to escape to a safe location and lock the offender out.

Yesterday police located the man and a replica revolver and charged him with unlawful and indecent assault, threaten to kill and possession of a controlled weapon.

The man is due to appear before the South Hedland Magistrates Court on Monday.
