New chief at industry body
Port Hedland Industries Council has a new man in charge after Peter Pierre replaced John Verbeek, who resigned recently.
Mr Pierre will take over the chief executive role after having held senior roles in government across the health, education, agricultural and transport sectors.
He brings leadership skills and a background in audit, compliance and risk management from his time at ACT Health.
PHIC contributes to the scientific understanding of air quality in Port Hedland, mainly on dust, and promotes the sustainable co-existence of industry and community. Mr Pierre said he was looking forward to working to ensure the long-term prosperity of Port Hedland. “The Port of Port Hedland is ... vital for the ongoing economic growth of the State and the region,” he said.
