Newman Aquatic Centre latest target in town crime spree

The damage bill to Newman’s aquatic centre after a group broke into the facility, destroyed and stole equipment could be in excess of $40,000.
Newman Police have reported that a group of offenders broke into the facility on Friday evening.
Police are now seeking community assistance in identifying the individuals captured in the CCTV image below for questioning in relation to the incident.

The offenders cut a hole in the fence, destroyed inflatable items and gained access to the plant room where they have stolen a number of items.
It is estimated that the damage caused by the break-in is in excess of $40,000.
The cap pictured below was also left at the scene.

The aquatic centre was forced to close its doors temporarily due to the mess offenders had made.
It has since re-opened to the public.
In a Facebook post, police said the pool had “lost significant revenue” due to the break in.
“The Newman Aquatic Centre and all the lovely staff are a great asset to our community and it is a shame that some people believe it is ok to ruin it for everyone else,” they said.
Police have asked that if anyone has any information, to report it immediately to Newman Police Station on 9175 4000.
