Nominations for the 2018 WA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards have opened and Pilbara residents are being urged to cast their votes.

The awards are open to nurses and midwives working in any sector, including public, private, non-govern-ment, hospital or community settings.

Health Minister Roger Cook said the awards helped raise the profile of the nursing and midwifery professions and to recognise their essential role in health services across Western Australia

“Nurses and midwives are the backbone of the health system, undertaking out-standing and innovative work on a daily basis to assist our most vulnerable community members,” he said.

There are 11 categories, and nominations can be made at wan mea.com.au.

Nominations close on December 11 and recipients will be announced on Saturday, May 12.
