Perth charity Zero2Hero delivers mental health workshops to Hedland kids

More than 400 Port Hedland primary school students attended mental health workshops to help with problems that may arise with living in regional towns. The two-day program was delivered by the charity zero2Hero through six workshops to students at Baler Primary School and Port Hedland Primary School on August 28 and 29. Projects manager from Zero2Hero Gemma West said the charity felt it was important to deliver their services to Port Hedland as the children might not have the same access to mental health services as metro areas. “It’s really important for us to contribute to a collective impact approach to support communities with mental health education,” she said. “Specifically in regional towns where their capacity might be limited or stretched or funding might not commit them to do these larger scale health promotion activities. “We see it as our purpose as a metro-based organisation to make sure every young person in WA has access to our mental health programs regardless of their location. Zero2Hero is a Perth-based charity that delivers educational classes to young people around the topics of mental health, wellbeing, and suicide.
