Pilbara pup takes its own Red Dog adventure
In an almost red dog style story, a local Port Hedland family is calling for help to find their fur baby lost in the great Aussie outback.
David Anderson decided over the weekend to take the family’s four legged friend on a prospecting adventure when their Jack Russell cross, Sage, decided to go on her own adventure to explore everything the Pilbara has to offer.
During a routine stop at Shaw River to stretch their legs, Mr Anderson soon realised Sage had gone missing, searching for hours on end, the eight year old seemingly disappeared into the wind.
In a moment of true bravery, Mr Anderson called his wife to break the news. Sage was missing.
Frantic, Danielle Anderson proceeded to call every and all roadhouse, rest stop and motel across the Pilbara to find her beloved Sage.
Unbeknownst to the Andersons, a Marble Bar family came across Sage on their drive home to Marble Bar, picked up the tiny 2 kilo pup and continued on their way.
Seeing Sage’s face blasted all over social media, the pup rescuers contacted Ms Anderson with the good news - Sage was safe and sound in Marble Bar.
But alas, Sage decided the humble abode of Marble Bar might not be what she’s interested in on her great Aussie adventure and escaped during a 6am toilet break.
Since then, Sage has bee MIA despite Mr Anderson spending all week in the small town searching high and low.
“I’m fearful a traveller has picked her up,” Ms Anderson said.
“She’s small, only 2kg, perfect for a grey nomad. But she’s not a puppy, she’s eight years-old and my first love.”
The Anderson’s are now calling on the wider Pilbara community to help find their little one, offering a $500 reward for anyone who can return her home.
Sage is a brown and white Jack Russell cross, survivor or cancer and beloved member of the Anderson family.
