Locals brought the heat in the final home-and-away round of Hedland softball last Friday, with the Pirates and Raiders winning at Marie Marland Reserve. In game one, the Pirates defeated PCYC 10-5. The Pirates’ Chloe Glasson led the way as pitcher with six K2’s across three innings. The Raiders defeated the Hawks by 10 runs, 15-5. Raiders’ star Hannah Ashburton stole the show with a home run, and hit three for four with three RBIs. Strong batting gave the Raiders the edge from the start of the match. The association is gearing up for the Northwest Championships in Tom Price from September 24-26, with the appointment of head coach Mitzi Cassidy assisted by Judy Cassidy.
