The Pirates proved themselves the top dogs in this week’s round of Port Hedland Softball Association competition, thrashing Raiders 12-7, while the Hawks failed to take off, losing 18-6 to the Jets.

Nikkii Puertollano was the star for the Pirates, with three singles from her four times at bat and bringing four runs batted in.

Young stars Zoe Britcliffe and Mackayla Denny each contributed an RBI from their respected times at bat.

Despite the loss, Sarah Ziegelaar was the shining light for the Raiders’ batswomen, hitting two sing-les to bring in two RBIs for the team.

Marrika Hodder followed closely behind Ziegelaar with one single from her three times at bat.

Tishyra Ryan proved her skills yet again, pitching all five innings, but only striking out four of the Pirates, who couldn’t be sunk.

The second game saw the Hawks struggle to take flight this week as they were taken down in a dramatic 18-6 loss to the Jets.

Tiarne Whitby proved her stellar skills with not only two singles, but a double as well to bring in four RBIs for the winning team.

Mirrika Councillor’s performance followed closely behind with two singles and three RBIs.

Pitching the entire five innings, Toni McMahon struck out five of the Hawks. Hawks’ Jaymie Ajis wouldn’t let the loss dull her shine, topping the team’s batters with one single, one double and one triple from her three times at bat.

Following suit, Rhiannon Johnson and Courtney Charles both hit home runs — Johnson with two RBIs and Charles with one. In a gallant effort, Hawks’ Fiona Lockyer struck out three Jets in her five innings pitching the game.
