Hedland Police have warned local race goers they will be out in full force at the Hedland Cup on Sunday.

Port Hedland Officer In Charge Sergeant Jayd Morawski said police had a zero tolerance approach towards antisocial behaviour and would be cracking down on intoxicated patrons.

“We’re not there to give people a hard time, we’re there to ensure public safety,” he said.

“Any intoxicated individual will not be tolerated.”

With the support of the Port Hedland Turf Club, Sgt. Morawski said police would remove intoxicated community members from the premises.

South Hedland Senior Sergeant Allan Jane said he was pleased with the overall behaviour of punters at the Ladies Day race meet last month, with only two infringements issued over the course of the day.
