Hedland residents took part in a series of free fitness classes on R U OK? Day, using movement as a way to promote mental health awareness and encourage meaningful conversations.

On September 11, attendees enjoyed yoga, Pilates, a strength class and more at Colin Matheson Pavilion and Wanangkura Stadium.

“Mental health impacts everyone, everywhere, but living in regional areas can create unique challenges,” Town of Port Hedland recreation and leisure facilities acting manager Claire MacIntyre said.

“The town of Port Hedland is committed to making mental health and wellbeing support more accessible for everyone.

“Our community classes on R U OK? Day is one of the ways that we are working to break down barriers, encourage greater connection through exercise, and support meaningful conversations.”
