Port Hedland to Brisbane flights return with bookings available now

Hedland residents with family in Queensland will travel a little easier this Christmas, with tickets now on sale for the re-established Brisbane to Port Hedland route. The route was cancelled during the COVID-19 pandemic due to WA’s quarantine laws. Last month Port Hedland International Airport chief executive Dave Batic told the North West Telegraph he had been working to re-establish the in-demand connection ever since. And, as of September 7, the route is officially back. Mr Batic said he was proud to help re-establish the important connection for the Port Hedland community, and hoped he could build on the momentum to see more routes announced in the near future. “We are thrilled to have the direct Brisbane service return to Port Hedland,” he said. “Special thanks to the Town of Port Hedland for showing leadership and support for the flight as part of the community aviation Development Task Force.” Qantas flight No.912 will leave Port Hedland at 1.05pm and arrive in Brisbane at 7.40pm local time on November 7, with tickets available on the website currently at $1147 one way. The Town of Port Hedland and the PHIA recently entered a new funding partnership to incentivise airlines to bring back Brisbane and Bali connections to the airport. Flights to Bali are being targeted for late 2023 or early 2024. Mr Batic revealed to the North West Telegraph that a major holdup in getting Bali flights was acquiring the necessary staff. “Australian Border Force are required to service these flights so we are working through the logistics of getting Australian Border Force Staff from Perth Airport to service overseas flights,” he said.
