Port Hedland will face Miners Cricket Club in the senior’s final after rolling South Hedland

Port Hedland will face the Miners Cricket Club in the Hedland Cricket Association seniors’ competition final after cruising to victory over South Hedland at the weekend. It was second verse third from the regular season but Port were easily able to overcome South, winning by 29 runs on Saturday. Wayward bowling proved costly for South, with Port posting a total of 94 in the first innings — 26 of which came from wides. Phil Stacey top-scored for Port with 29 from 63 before being dismissed by Ghalib Zaman. South’s captain Jamie Bunn took 3-17 off seven overs. The second-placed side’s run chase started poorly, losing both openers for four off the bowling of Port captain Jarrad O’Dea. Zacharia R. Davies showed some resistance, making 16 batting at four, but South Hedland collapsed to be all out for 65 off 22.4 overs, with McEnrith Enoch claiming 4-13. Port will now face Miners Cricket Club in the grand final on Saturday. Elsewhere, Wanderers Cricket Club continued their winning ways in the Hedland First National’s WT20 competition. Batting second, the Wanderers were able to chase down Port Hedland’s total of 82 with 6.2 overs to spare. Rebecca Tavo top-scored with the bat, notching up 21 from nine deliveries before being trapped in front by Sarah Miller. This season, the Wanderers have won eight of the 10 clashes between the two teams.
