Recognition for health workers
Hedland’s health workers have won a top gong for their commitment to improving the health of Pilbara residents with diabetes.
Hedland Health Campus’ Hannah Castledine, Kate Wilson, Laura Moylon, Kianna Barker and South Hedland Community Health’s Eunice Asare won the rural and remote practice category at this year’s Rotary Allied Health Team Excellence Awards.
The nutrition co-ordinator, community dietitian, diabetes educator and two health promotion officers were recognised among a field of more than 40 nominations.
“Our Allied Health team know first-hand the extremes and contrasts that characterise life in the Pilbara,” WA Country Health Service’s Anna McDonald said.
“This award is recognition of the unique challenges experienced and overcome by the team on a daily basis.
“Allied Health represents a wide range of disciplines and marks one of the most effective professional health workforce cohorts.
“Our multidisciplinary team here in Hedland has been focused on the implementation of measures to keep the community healthy and out of hospital.”
