Roads to develop Hedland industrial precinct
The Draper and Moorambine intersection in the Wedgefield industrial precinct is undergoing upgrades with project completion set for early July.
Town of Port Hedland received funding for the roads as part of the WA Main Roads commodity routes fund to support the the Wedgefield masterplan route one Development.
Construction will update roads to current restricted access vehicle requirements, correct pavement defects and address drainage issues within the precinct.
Upgrades are also expected throughout on streets including Moorambine, Yanana, Schillaman and Peawah.
TOPH mayor Peter Carter said the Town welcomed the start of construction of the route development.
“Wedgefield is a critical industrial area, supporting operations across the local economy such as manufacturing, logistics, transport and more,” he said.
“Council and I are committed to delivering a high standard of road connectivity and amenity to the precinct, recognising its role in supporting growth, investment and job creation in Hedland.”
De Grey Civil hold the tender on the project.
