Cowboys and cowgirls galloped their way across the Pilbara for the 20th anniversary of the Newman Rodeo over the weekend.

Locals and visitors showed off their best western-themed attire and some country dance moves at the competition organised by the Newman Campdraft and Rodeo Association at the Newman rodeo grounds on Saturday.

Rodeo enthusiasts were given the opportunity to see some bucking good action, with barrel racing, saddle bronc, steer wrestling and bull riding events, commentated by announcer Paul Casey.

After the action, attendees let their hair down at the after party featuring Perth band Renegade, performing songs by Billy Ray Cyrus, Foo Fighters, Van Morrison, The Pogues, Fleetwood Mac and Queen.
