Royal Flying Doctor Service Aircraft forced to land at Telfer Airport

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is investigating the precautionary landing of a Royal Flying Doctor plane at Telfer Airport in the East Pilbara on Tuesday. The unscheduled landing was reported to the Department of Fire and Emergency at 5:30 pm. An ATSB spokesperson said the aircraft, which was travelling from Perth to Broome, was forced to land after a master warning light turned on. “The precautionary landing of a PC-24 aircraft at Telfer Airport on Tuesday night due to a master warning light has been reported to the ATSB,” they said “The ATSB is gathering further information as to the nature of the incident.” No patients were on the aircraft which has since flown back to Perth to be assessed by engineers. RFDS WA chief executive Judith Barker thanked the team at Telfer Airport. ‘Everyone involved is safe and well, and the RFDS crew’s textbook response is a testament to their extensive training and experience,” she said. “I also extend my sincere thanks to the Newcrest team for their excellent support at Telfer Airport. The safety of our people and patients is always our most important priority, A DFES spokesperson said the initial report suggested there may have been a small fire on the aircraft and the incident was handled by the internal emergency response team at the airport
