Six vehicles, a drone, helicopter and a mobile police facility to were deployed to assist with the search.

South Hedland Police officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Gordon Armstrong said there were grave concerns for Mr Lockyer’s welfare.

“He was last seen at the community and hasn’t been seen since. So he was spoken to at six o’clock in the morning hasn’t been seen since,” he said.

“There was obviously a delay in realising, they thought he was somewhere else and then once they’ve got together they realised that he is not where he should be and notified us.

“He’s an avid social media user, none of that’s been touched. He hasn’t been in contact with family or friends which is very unusual. And obviously being away not being in contact with family for this length of time is very concerning.”

He urged community members to come forward with any information they might have.

“Just contact local police or Crimestoppers and just relay any information to us and we’ll follow up on any information we receive,” he said.

Mr Lockyer is described as being 182cm tall, of solid build, clean shaven with black hair in a mullet style.
