The Shire of East Pilbara and Healthway have renewed their partnership to promote positive mental health in local communities for another 12 months.

Under the initiative, which has been running for three years, Healthway provides funding towards East Pilbara community events to create opportunities for promoting the Act-Belong-Commit mental health message to residents.

Shire president Lynne Craigie said the local government was committed to strengthening mental health support in the region.

“We recognise the importance of social connectedness and inclusivity in developing a thriving, healthy and active community,” she said.

“This partnership with Healthway will allow us to deliver inclusive community events in Newman, Marble Bar and Nullagine that will support healthy and safe lifestyle choices.”

The Shire-Healthway partnership will support the delivery of six events in the East Pilbara this year, including the Newman triathlon and family fun run, Marble Bar summer water polo series and Nullagine Colour Pinirringu (fun run).
