Hedland residents can look forward to a weekend of good food and entertainment as the Spinifex Spree Carnival returns to town at the end of the month.

The annual affair will be held at Port Hedland Turf Club from 5–9pm on Friday, July 28 and 11am–9 pm on Saturday, July 29.

Fireworks, live entertainment, rides and more than 80 market stalls are some of the key highlights of this year’s carnival, which is said to be one of the largest events on the town’s social calender.

A variety of performers will feature over the weekend, including indie rock band The VANNS, who will take to the stage on Saturday at 6.45pm.

Mayor Camilo Blanco said the Spinifex Spree was a “regional royal show” experience and encouraged all community members to attend.

“It is a great day out for the family with lots of kids’ programs planned across the two days,” he said.

“Families can enjoy a huge variety of amusement rides, games, and main stage entertainment.

“Pet owners are also reminded to take extra precaution on Saturday evening with fireworks scheduled for 8pm and to be aware that loud bangs, shouts and flashing lights can be terrifying for our beloved pets.”

The carnival is supported by the Town of Port Hedland, Lotteries West, Pilbara Ports Authority, and Horizon Power.
