Teams take on Scramble

Port Hedland Golf Club hosted the Holden Scramble competition at the weekend in windy conditions.

The results saw the last-minute team of Brian Sweeney, Steve Lindley, Mike Ziegelaar and Pieter Bergshoeff putt out the day to win with 59 points.

The team of Matthew Walls, Mark Worthington, Mark Pickering and Allan Johnson was close behind on 60.375 points.

In third place, the team of Craig Watson, David Watson, Jason Battle and Glenn Robertson posted 62.25 points.

Nearest the pin on the par-three 2nd and men’s longest drive on the 9th were claimed by Stuart Wise, while Teresa Fairclough took the ladies’ long drive on the 12th.

On the other par-threes, John Stade was nearest the pin on the 8th, Russell Lissa was nearest on the 13th, and Matthew Walls was closest to the marker on the 17th.

Nearest the pin for two shots for men on the 10th hole was Vic Arriagarda, and Alice King took the honours, hitting closest to the pin on the second shot for women on the 7th.

Nearest to the pin for three shots on the 18th went to Axel Thompson and the golfers from team PMG took the long putt on the 6th.

This Saturday is Ponderosa Day, sponsored by the Cartwright Family. Names in by 11.30am for tee-off at noon.
