Ponderosa Day — proudly sponsored by the Cartwright family — was held last weekend.

A good field of players teed off to start the day, which ended with some good scores.

Matthew Templeman tookthe men’s honours with an impressive 42 Stableford points, followed by Glen Russell coming in with 38 points.

The women were very close, with Bev Thomas shooting 31 Stableford points, just sneaking in front of Natalie Devenish with 30 points.

Novelties included nearest the pin on the 2nd hole, taken by Zeljko Pejovic, while nearest the pin on the 8th hole was Lynette Lissa, nearest on the 13th hole was secured by Greg Mathews and Wayne Groombridge took nearest the pin on the 17th hole (all par threes). Groombridge also hit nearest the pin for two shots on the 16th hole for the men, while Garry Bright hit nearest the pin for three shots on the 3rd hole (par 5).

The ladies’ long drive on the 11th hole and long putt on the 9th hole belonged to Natalie Devenish, and Bev Thomas hit nearest the pin for two shots on the 1st hole.

Tom Mulligan hit the men’s long drive on the 6th hole and Nick Preece holed long putt on the 18th green. The highlight of the day was Brendon Evans’ eagle on the 18th hole.

The 2017 Pilbara Ladies Open will be this weekend and the course will be closed on July 22 and 23.

The back 9 will be open for scroungers on Friday for members.
