The Pink Pilbara Breakfast breaks its fundraising record with a whopping $115,000 donated

A massive target has been set for next year as the Pink Pilbara Breakfast breaks its fundraising record with a massive $115,000 donated to the Hedland Well Women’s Centre. The annual fundraiser was held on September 7 at the Esplanade Hotel in Port Hedland and blew last year’s total of $90,000 out of the park. HWWC chief executive Kianna Barker said the organisation was ‘humbled’ by the record-breaking total and the funds would allow them to further their support to the community. “It’s going to further support some of our existing services,” she said. “A lot of it will go into cancer prevention events and clinical services so things like screening, prevention and early detection. “We are looking for further support in some of the cancer services like a peer support group that is community-led.” Ms Barker said the funds would also go towards advocacy support and help continue services like cancer physiotherapy. She said the big total was down to the generosity of the community and sponsors. For 16 years the HWWC has hosted the fundraiser to provide cancer support for the Port Hedland community.
