Two dominant performances by Hedland’s Pirates and PCYC at Marie Marland Reserve in round three

There were two comprehensive victories in round three of softball on Friday as the PCYC defeated the jets 18-6 and the Pirates got over Hawks 12-2 at Marie Marland Reserve. Christelle Lee was the star of the night for PCYC, hitting four for four with two RBIs. The Jets had to keep their eyes on Lee who stole four bases with some cunning play. Carmel Ford also delivered a strong performance for PCYC, hitting four for four with two RBIs. Katrina L’Estelle was best on ground for the Pirates, hitting two for two with three RBIs to help put her side on top of the ladder. Jess Finch also starred for the Pirates, hitting three for three in a dominant team performance. Hedland Softball hosted some special guests too this week with Aussie Diamonds coach Drew Harrington and Softball WA Community Coaching Director Milosa Jackson in town for the Pilbara Roadshow. The Roadshow is expected to feature softball clinics on Monday and Tuesday at Marie Marland Reserve, with an emphasis on training juniors and inexperienced players.
