A man has been charged with murder after a woman was allegedly stabbed multiple times overnight in a domestic-violence related incident.
NSW Police allegedly found a woman in her 40s suffering from multiple stab wounds at a unit in Rockvale Rd, Armidale, following reports of a stabbing around 2.15am.
Paramedics treated the woman but despite their efforts, she died at the scene.
A 53-year-old man was arrested at the scene and was later charged with murder.
Senior Constable Greg Ryan said the man and woman were in a de-facto relationship and the alleged murder is being treated as a domestic violence incident.
“The victim has been identified, and we have been in contact with her family this morning,” he said.
“Obviously, this is devastating for the family, and we will continue to support the family and the community.”
A crime scene has been established and an investigation launched into the incident.
The knife used in the alleged attack is being forensically examined.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
