Boolaroo stabbing: Police charge 17-year-old girl with 10yo’s murder

Police have charged a 17-year-old girl over the death of a 10-year-old girl, believed to be her sister.

Emergency services were called to a Thurston Street home in Boolaroo about 3.45pm to reports of a stabbing, paramedics tried to revive the younger girl but she died at the scene.

The 17 year old was arrested at the home and charged overnight.

She has been refused bail and is due to face children’s court on Tuesday.

The community of Boolaroo has been left devastated but the horrific incident in their ‘quiet little neighbourhood.’

One neighbour has told Nine News: “My wife went out and asked the policeman what was happening and he said you don’t want to know. It’s been a nasty situation.”

Another neighbour, describing the situation as “absolutely horrible” said it was a very quiet neighbourhood.

“It is horrible. Absolutely horrible. Very quiet little neighbourhood.”

A police spokeswoman confirmed the victim is known to the teenager. It is understood she is the sister of the 10-year-old.
