The Dampier Sharks extended their winning streak to seven games after smashing the Karratha Kats by 46 points at Windy Ridge Oval on Saturday night. The Sharks’ remarkable unbeaten streak never looked in doubt with the side controlling the action from bouncedown, booting five goals to the Kats’ 1.1 in the opening quarter. It was a back-and-forth second term, with both sides kicking three goals apiece but the damage was already done with the Karratha side trailing by 25 points at the main break. Dampier came out all guns blazing in the second half, outscoring the visiting side and booting three goals. It was all Dampier in the final term with the home side keeping their opponents scoreless while having repeated inside 50s. The Sharks missed opportunities to inflict more pain on the Kats, booting 2.5 in the final term to run away with the victory. The final score saw Dampier Sharks demolish the Karratha Kats 13.11 (89) to 6.7 (43). Shane Mcintosh continued his impressive form with another three-goal haul to bring his tally to 35 this season while his teammate Lewis Upton also kicked three. Alex Devitt was the top scorer for the Kats with three goals. The victory keeps the Sharks on top of the ladder, with the dominant side now sitting three games clear of Karratha Kats and Wickham Wolves who are both tied on 16 points. In the reserves, the Karratha Kats survived a late rally from the Dampier Sharks to come away with a three-point win. Kats looked in control during the first half, holding a two-goal lead at the main break before a rampant Sharks fought their way back into the contest. A four-goal third quarter cut the deficit to four points before a goal-for-goal final term saw the visitors able to hold the Sharks at bay to snatch the win. The final score was Karratha Kats 10.4 (64) defeat Dampier Sharks 9.7 (61).
