Horizon Power’s Community Partnerships Program sees local gymnasts scale new heights

Karratha gymnasts will soon gain some new gym equipment from the $10,000 partnership between the State Government and Horizon Power’s Community Partnerships Program. The Karratha Gymnastics Club is one of 18 organisations across the Pilbara which has received a total of $104,575 from the program. The partnership will allow the Karratha Gymnastics Club at the Karratha Leisureplex to replace its old equipment with a new vault from Europe. Pilbara MLA Kevin Michel visited the club to present a framed certificate recognising the partnership. “I was honoured to present funding to Karratha Gymnastics Club in partnership with Horizon Power,” he said. “The Cook Labor Government, through Horizon Power’s Community Partnerships Program, is supporting organisations to continue the services they offer to the community. “This funding of $10,000 for the Karratha Gymnastics Club is a fantastic investment in our community’s future. It will ensure that the club can acquire much-needed equipment, benefiting the training of current and future members for years to come.” “Congratulations to the club again.” The Karratha Gymnastics Club has about 400 gymnasts aged between nine months and 18 years. Club president, Melissa Durkin, said the grant would go a long way to making the club more accessible for all Karratha residents. “This invaluable contribution has enabled us to enhance our facilities and purchase new equipment from Gym Nova, a significant investment that would have been out of reach without their grant,” she said. “Horizon Power’s support signifies a strong commitment to our club’s growth and the development of our young gymnasts, allowing us to provide a better training environment and opportunities for the community. “We are truly appreciative of their dedication to fostering athletic excellence and wellbeing in our local area.” Horizon Power’s Community Partnerships Program will provide more than $530,000 to 65 community organisations and events across regional and remote Western Australia. Other partnership recipients in Karratha include the City of Karratha with supporting its Christmas lights competition; Karratha Squash Club for new training equipment for juniors and the Karratha Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service for the 2023 Christmas lolly run and Santa photos.
