The Karratha Kats remain unbeaten in the 2022 North Pilbara Football League season after drubbing the Port Hedland Rovers by 104 points. The game at Millars Well Oval on April 30 was the Kats’ first home game of the season. Kats got the jump on the Rovers early in the opening term before running away to a 23-point lead at quarter time. A further four goals in the second quarter gave the home side a 51-point lead at half-time. The Kats refused to ease up after the main break, booting 3.5 while conceding just one goal to further extend their lead going into the final break. A five-goal fourth quarter further extended the home side’s lead, with the Kats running away by 104 points. The pain could have been worse for the Rovers if the Kats had been more accurate in front of goal after scoring 21 behinds, with the final scored 16.21 (117) to 2.1 (13). The goals were shared around by the Kats with six individual goal scorers but Kevin Seelander was the standout with three. Ashley Mulhall and Dylan Ross scored Rovers’ only goals. The victory means Karratha Kats remain on top of the ladder with eight points and a massive percentage of 213.68. Karratha Kats reserves side followed suit with a 109-point demolition of the visiting Port Hedland Rovers. Kats led at every break after running away with a 33-0 opening term and finished up winning 18.10 (118) to 1.3 (9).
