Karratha Kats flog Falcons and Dampier Sharks down Wickham in North Pilbara Football League Women’s round 10

Karratha Kats remain the measuring stick for the rest of the North Pilbara Football League Women’s competition after bludgeoning the Falcons by 84 points. It was a close start to the contest at Bulgarra Oval on Friday night with the Kats taking a two-goal lead at the first break. The floodgates opened for the Kats forward line in the second term. They slotted five goals while the Falcons attack was completely shut down. Falcons lifted in the third quarter, slowing the Kats’ scoring and applying pressure in the midfield, but were unable to score themselves. A revitalised Kats came out firing in the final quarter, booting four goals to cap off a dominant performance. The final score was Karratha Kats 13.7 (85) to Falcons 0.1 (1). In the other round 10 clash, Dampier Sharks and Wickham Wolves competed in a gruelling and low-scoring battle at Wickham Oval on Saturday. The Sharks took the lead early, scoring the game’s only goal in the first term and taking a seven-point lead at quarter-time. The game slowed down in the second quarter, with neither side able to break away and score with freedom. In the end the Sharks prevailed by six points. Finals scores: Sharks 1.3 (9) to Wolves 0.3 (3).
